About Us

The School of Education And Childhood (SEAC) Technical Team offer support, guidance and instruction to staff and students within UWE’s School of Education and Childhood. We are based in S-block on Frenchay campus and offer support on a huge range of Education and pedagogy related resources and practices.

These are the resources and spaces the SEAC Technical Team operate and support.

School of Education and Childhood resource centre
SEAC Resource Centre:
Our School of Education and Childhood Resource Centre is an open learning area for students and a resource store where SEAC staff and students can access a wide variety of resources for use within their courses or while on school placements. The ERC also houses our SEAC Loans desk where students and staff can access audio/video recording equipment and much more. Check out our catalogue here
School of Education and Childhood digital education centre
Digital Education Centre:
Our Digital Education Centre comprises of a staff facing hybrid meeting space with a state-of-the-art recording studio. These facilities can be booked through our Digital Education Team (edutech@uwe.ac.uk)  for hybrid meetings and the recording of a wide range of digital media production and remote learning content production.
School of Education and Childhood teaching resources store
Resources:
We hold an extensive range of teaching resources within the School. They cover the full range of National Curriculum subject areas (from English and Mathematics, to Science, Humanities, Physical Education and Music etc.) and include resources for the teaching of specific pedagogy skills and approaches. These resources are primarily for use within our teaching sessions but can also be loaned out to students and schools.

Specialist teaching spaces

Art studio: We have 2 specialist art rooms designed specifically for the teaching of a variety of creative arts. These studios are adapted to support the teaching of both 2D and 3D Art and Design as well as catering for Design Technology, Resistant Materials and Textiles sessions with our trainees.
Science labs: We have 3 specialist science laboratories designed to facilitate all levels of science education from Early years “enquiry based play” to higher level Biology, Chemistry and Physics practicals. Our trainees can undertake science activities designed to develop childrens early scientific reasoning skills all the way up to GCSE and A-level practical science activities.
Food Technology kitchen: Our Food Technology kitchen is a bespoke space designed to mirror a Secondary School Food Technology teaching space. It has 5 fully kitted cooking stations for the teaching of primary and secondary school food technology as well as catering for other student enrichment and outreach activities.

Areas of expertise: Science Education, from Early Years to A-level, across the broad spectrum of science subjects. I specialise in the use of practical science to engage learning and the development of scientific thinking skills.

Areas of expertise: Design and support of IT systems that facilitate learning and enhance student experience. I also design and support system to streamline and automate routine administrative functions to improve efficiency of work processes, reduce duplication and enhance staff experience.

Areas of experitse: My expertise is in supporting trainee teachers to develop their English subject knowledge; the ins and outs of grammar, spelling and punctuation; and how to teach this in the primary classroom.  I also specialise in children’s literature – sharing and signposting to new authors and quality books to use in schools.
